15 DAY 363
★ Overwhelmed and stressed.
It is almost New Years. I have never been this stressed over work. The design was incorrect. I had to start over. Again. Anxiety overwhelmed me to think of the amount of time I had already spent on the project. I removed the four hours of overtime that I had put in the day before. The mind is the most vulnerable when under great pressure, as a result, more prune to dangerous thoughts, which leads to greater stress. 18 / 46. FInally made it back to the gym.
A co-worker reached out to help with the project. Thank God. My mind was going numb from staring at the spot grades and the contours everyday of the past week. I could not pass on the work fast enough. Because so, I left work on time this evening. I caught the E train downtown to Canal Street. From the Canal Street station, I walked to the gym. I went about my usual routine at the gym. I walked home from the gym after a quick session. |
15 DAY 362
★ Worked overtime again.
Despite my diligence, progress did not match up with my effort.
At around 7:00 p.m., I made a trip to a nearby Panera Bread to purchase dinner. I ate my supper at work. That was a first.
I met the cleaning crew for the third time since I started my position at VHB. This time, the cleaning crew left before me.
At 10:30 p.m., I promptly threw in the towel.

15 DAY 361
1 / 9 / 12. The light flashed five times.
The tip of my eyes registered a flash. I scanned the façade of the building, seeking for the source of the flash. There. There it is. Another flash.
"If the light flashes again, I am going to meet him soon." I said to myself.
The flashing halted. The spazzing room was now quiet. I
The flashing halted. The spazzing room was now quiet. I nervously locked down my rays on the window where the flashing was coming from, and waited. "Come on. Come on. Come on." I repeated to myself. The bus slowly pulled forward as the traffic light turned green. Just then, a flash. A subsequent flash. And three more. I looked away from the target in peace.

18 / 46. Went on a run along the east river promenade
The right side of my face is falling down again. I had gained back five of the twenty pounds that I had shed in the past six months.
After I was done with the laundry, I went on a run along my usual route, the East River Promenade. I ran for a total of 30:01 (3.14 miles) at a 8'40" average pace.

2 / 15 / 21 / 24 / 30. POSTED a NEW PHOTO ON INSTAGRAM
This is the first published photo that was captured via my new iPhone 6. I had complained previously that I was not too impressed with the new iPhone's camera. The color of its photos is not nearly as rich as its predecessor generation of iPhones, specifically the iPhone 5 series. |
15 DAY 359
★ Merry Christmas
My parents had left the house by the time I woke up. I made brunch for my brother and I. After a post-brunch shower, I crawled back to bed. Soon, I was asleep. The world was a shade of grey when I opened my eyes again. My brother was asleep on the sofa. I cooked rice, and while waiting for the rice to cook, I washed the dirty dishes from our brunch. Much later in the night, I watched a Chinese movie on YouTube, Bodyguards and Assassins, a highly regarded film from Hong Kong.
15 DAY 358
★ home for christmas
There was no one waiting in line when I arrived at the bus terminal, a rarity. The ride was smooth, with no traffic. With a short break midway, we still manage to arrive at Boston's South Station in under four hours, also a rarity. Mom had prepared dinner, the usual, by the time I came home.

2 / 15 / 21 / 24 / 30. Posted two new photos on Instagram
My Instagram game had been weak. I finally posted two new photos on the feed today. The first picture was from two months ago. Its definition, or quality, had been reduced from multiple edits from different apps. I had realized that certain photo editing apps do not have the capability to save edited photos in its original size. And that is very unfortunate. The second picture is from last winter. I had posted and deleted the picture on and from the feed once before.
80. carried a stranger's suitcase up the subway stairs
In front of the subway stairs that connects the basement floor to the street level, I walked by a woman and her child at the bottom of the exit. I could just tell from her wandering eyes that she wanted help, but was too timid to ask. I asked if she was going up the stairs, and needed assistance with her luggage. She excitedly answered yes. I made my way up the stairs carrying one of her two suitcases, while a passing by stranger carried her second suitcase. At the top of the subway station, I bid my goodbye and left.
80. Left a 50% tip for the barber
He was extraordinarily careful. He was polite, spoke in a low voice. Maybe he had remembered my face from the last time I was at the shop. That I do not know.
15 DAY 354
15 DAY 353
★ 57.44. purchased ticket for a new year's eve event + bought a case of persimmon from a street vendor
One of my friends asked me to join him for a spiritual workshop on New Year's Eve. My first reaction was what the fuck? However, the idea soon warmed up to me. I met up with him after his French class today, where we walked to the venue where the workshop will be hosted to purchase event tickets. We made our separate ways upon leaving the ashram. He made his way to Marshall's to pick some holiday gifts for his family and friends. I made my way to the gym. From the gym, I walked home. Pass Manhattan Bridge, I made a turn from Canal Street onto Forsyth Street. Under the Manhattan Bridge, I picked up a case of persimmon from one of the street vendors for $2.00. |
18 / 46. took the train to the gym + Worked out + Walked home
From West Village, I took the 1 train from 14th Street to Canal Street. I went about my usual routine at the gym. A strange man at the gym today made me very uncomfortable. From the gym, I walked home. |
15 DAY 352
★ 1 / 9 / 12 / 57.44. Out? and about.
There are so many clubs in New York City, why do we always end up at the same place? But thank God that each time there is something unique to offer.
Shadows shuffling in and out under the neon lights were simply mesmerizing. I joked to a friend that I could lounge on the sofas that we were sitting on for the rest of the night, smoking weed and drinking beers. I reluctantly gave up my comfort spot when the rest of the crew showed up. From the sofas, we migrated to the then empty dance floor. Initially, I sat on an adjacent couch to the dance floor, feeling awkward being the first and only people under the flickering spotlight, as if we were putting on a performance for the rest of the club attendees. However, within seconds from the moment I sat down, the dance floor was jam packed with crowd. Looked like we started the party.
And I was particularly popular that night.

18 / 46. Went on a run/Walk along East River Promenade
I went on a run along East River Promenade. Midway through the run, I stopped to walk. The air was cold, and the oxygen was thin. My sore throat was flaming from each breath of the freezing air. I ran and walked to the edge of the promenade, before ran and walked my way back.
80. Left a 25% tip for the bartender (10/1,000,000)
An extra dollar makes all the difference.
15 DAY 351
15 DAY 350
18 / 46. Jogged to union square and jogged back
I went on a jog to Union Square and back tonight. I was wearing my Ohio State sweatshirt over my Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics t-shirt. I took off my Ohio State sweatshirt halfway through the run. It was getting too hot. This December weather is unreal. I do not like it.
I ran for a total of 3.59 miles (31:48), with an average pace of 8'51".

66. learned a little something about loading docks
The typical height of a loading dock ranges from 48" to 52". The height of a loading dock depends on the type of truck.
15 DAY 349
1 / 9 / 12. There is a supermassive blackhole.
There is a supermassive blackhole.
In my soul.
With each day, the void becomes emptier, like self-devouring blackhole. Man, what a treacherous act of cannibalism.
To see them leave. To hear her bidding holiday wishes. To think that I am exactly where I was fifteen years ago, in an unreal, unsatisfying, and addicted state of fantasy. It was all too much. Simply too much to handle. Tears overspilled from the corners of my eyes.
God, pity my fragile heart for what it can handle.

15 DAY 348
★ worked overtime until 9:30 p.m. tonight
I had worked overtime before at my previous job, but never as late as 9:30 p.m. I was stuck at work so late, I met the cleaning crew.
The sanitary personnel casually walked into our office. There were three of them. One of the ladies habitually approached our fridge and reached her arm into the lower compartment of the freezer.

She loaded the frozen dish in the mircowave, wahile waitef for her food to heat up. Subsequently, the three of them ate by the last remaining table left in our pantry.
Time flew by as I laid out the parking spaces for a hotel development project in Queens, New York.

15 DAY 347
18 / 46. ran up and down five flights of stairs ten times
Please rain.
One rain droplet. Two rain droplets. Three rain droplets...
I tilted my head back to examine the darkened sky. I saw gaps amidst the now congregated, grey clouds. So, is it going to rain or not?
Maybe it will rain by the time I return to the apartment.
Not yet.

So, I should go on a run.

Well, I cannot. I cannot go on a run on a filled bladder. I had suddenly recognized my need to take a piss. However, the sole bathroom in our apartment was temporarily occupied. I could eat my dinner while I wait, some takeout from a nearby Chinese restaurant. However, if I was to eat now, then I most definitely should not run in the next hour to avoid abdominal cramp from exercising on a full stomach. Maybe it would rain in the next hour. I thought. My iPhone said that it would rain in the next hour. I double checked my iPhone. I hope it rains in the next hour. I secretly prayed.
It started to rain after dinner.
Oh well.

15 DAY 346
18 / 46. Walked to the gym + Worked out + Walked home
I had already walked nearly 10,000 steps by the time I returned home.
I had walked more than 10,000 steps by the time I came home from breakfast.
At the conclusion of a brief photoshoot for my phone case, I walked to the gym. One, I had long accepted the impossibleness of running through Canal Street before sunset. Two, I had planned to shop on Broadway prior to heading to the gym. And Broadway, being no less congested with pedestrians than Canal Street, is just as impossible to run through. Two, I had planned to shop on Broadway prior to heading to the gym. And Broadway, being no less congested than Canal Street, is just as impossible to run through. I did not end up purchasing any items, however, I did pick up two free samples from Sephora. I was not about to run with the new acquired merchanizes or any objectives in my pocket for that matter.
I tried out the stair-climber machine for the first time today, while shamelessly indulged on Keeping up with the Kardashians that was playing on the screen. A few times, I almost fell off of the machine.
From the gym, I walked home.

The skin under my right eye is falling down. In addition, I break out easily, and I have big pores on my cheeks and nose. I had been curious about face mask. As part of my take-better-care-of-myself initiative that I started earlier this year and to fulfill my flaming curiosity about facial masks, I decided to give them a try. Through a short reseasrch online, I stumbled upon a product I was interested in, and while strolling through the store, I was introduced to a second product that I was interested in. Int he end, I brought home two products from the store. I tried out one of the products tonight, and had immediately felt the results. I am looking foward to the enxt month or two.

15 DAY 345
15 DAY 344
★ Bad day
Okay. Today was not that bad. It could have been a lot worse.
I am so done with this bitch, rude and unpredictable. I have been so careful when I talk to her, since the previous two incidents. Still, bitch flips out on me for absolutely no righteous reason. I simply cannot work alongside or deal with a bitch like her.
After this third incident in a month, I walked to the restroom for a pee break. On the way to the bathroom, body temperature began to rise. My skin turned to a faded shade of red. Before I knew, warm blood streamed down from my left nostril. Just then, a light, pulsing headache kicked in. Next, I was stumbling my way out of the washroom.
Man, I must had been really upset to be nose bleeding over it.
My body was warm and my head was dizzy when I returned to my cubicle. My mind halted for a minute as I blankly gazed at my computer screen thoroughly feeling my increasing weakness, the headache's beating against the inner edge of my skull, and the empty abyss that I had been feeling this entire week. I IM-ed one of my co-workers to ambiguously vent everything that had went on. When I told her that I had had a nose bleed, she urged me to eat. That was when I ate a quarter of a bagel from the leftovers from a morning meeting.

15 DAY 342
1 / 9 / 12. Empty
A void swallowed me from inside out as I stood in place watching the unlit room.
I felt empty. So empty.
I felt empty. So empty.
★ Checked out a new apartment in chinatown, manhattan
I want to move. The apartment is crowded. My room is damp six out of the seven days in a week. And last and most importantly, there is a mouse living behind the walls of our condominium, who had turned our residence into its own playground. Every weekend, I am scheduled to clean after its designated bathrooms for its sesame sized poo, a corner by the laundry basket, and a second corner next to the heater. The only perk of my current living situation is that the rent is cheap.
The place I checked out tonight is another room in a converted four-bedroom apartment. I liked the building, specifically its modern Chinese styled exterior and interior, and the layout of each individual unit. In addition, it is a post-war structure, in other words, it is relatively new. The familiar architecture reminds me greatly of China. It has a homely feel, I might say.
It was an easy decision not to rent the room. The room was smaller than and farther away from the train station from my current residence at a higher price. On top of that, the apartment does not have internet.

15 DAY 340
9 / 12. Not the same
Your monotone voice was freeze over.
At 7:54 p.m., he asked me what time it was. "It's 7:54 p.m." I said.
This was not the same.
And how stupid would I be to fall over someone with a someone else.

★ 9 / 12. Made plan for tomorrow
Third time the charm? It did not turn out well the first two times. Looking back, I am not sure how to best put my first experience in words. And I remember distinctly how uncomfortable I had felt the second time, the kind of uneasiness that sent chills down my spine. Man, I could not get up fast enough from my chair by the end of that meal.
We had made dinner plans for tomorrow night at a Japanese/Thai fusion restaurant in the Lower East Side. I am nervous about the meet up, at the same time, excited about the food, and even more ecstatic about the possibility of a new friendship.

15 DAY 339
18 / 46. jogged to the gym + worked out + walked home
I took a nap. I was hoping to wake up late, passing the gym's closing hour. And that was too good to be true as my non-cooperating bladder woke me up earlier than I had hoped. I got dressed and jogged to the gym. The pedestrian traffic on Canal Street made it impossible to run faster than a jog.
I went about my usual routine at the gym. Today's session was particularly unproductive. Upon leaving the gym, I stopped at a nearby GNC store to purchase a new bottle of whey protein. After trying out a number of protein shake flavors, including strawberry and cookie and cream, I went back to my all-time favorite flavor, vanilla ice cream. From the GNC store, I walked back to east end of Chinatown, stopping at a supermarket to pick some groceries. I bought three cups of Chobani Greek yogurt, two bags of seedless, black grapes, and a bottle of Lactaid whole milk. I love Lactaid's lactose free whole milk. It is thicker and sweeter than regular whole milk. In addition, it makes a wonderful couple with the vanilla ice cream flavored whey protein.

80. Provided direction to a couple looking for the a train (9/1,000,000)
A couple walked into the GNC store while I was checking out. They were asking for direction to the nearest A train station. I offered to look up the direction for them on my iPhone. With the digital map in front of us, I showed them where we were on the map, and where the closest A train station was. I directed them to walk down Canal Street westward for two blocks, before making a left turn.
15 DAY 338
15 DAY 337
9 / 12. I Still care.
I need to change my ways.
I have nothing else to say.
I waited to leave my post, waiting for you to walk my may. I hoped that you would say those words. And you did. Coldly. You left. Then, I left.
I have nothing else to say.

57.44. CHECKED OUT A NEW RESTAURANT, YI ZHANG FISHBALL INC., IN CHINATOWN, NEW YORK
I left work late. The restaurant that I wanted to purchase dinner from was closed. I tried to think of another restaurant. I was exhausted and hungry. I thought of all of the restaurants on Eldridge Street that I had yet had a chance to eat in. I subsequently walked from East Broadway, where I was at the moment, to Eldridge Street.
I walked by Yi Zhang Fishball, Inc. on Eldridge Street. My gut feeling was propelling me to enter, and so I did. I was initially craving a bowl of noodle soup. However, their choices for noodle was was very limited. There were not many food items on the menu. I went with the basics. It was okay.

15 DAY 336
9 / 12. making conversation.
I guess I was lonely. I wanted someone to talk to. You contacted me. I did not want what you wanted. I knew that. You did not. I tried to make the conversation last not for the reason you thought of. I guess I was lonely.
18 / 46. Went on a run along East River Promenade
Yesterday was weight training day. Today is running day. I went on a run along the East River Promenade per usual. Nothing particular happened. I ran for 40:01, a total distance of 4.67 miles, at a 8'33" per mile pace.

15 DAY 335
1 / 9 / 12. There are ~52 Wednesdays in a year.
I observed each person passing by, attempting to figure out who was absent today. To assure my conclusion was correct, I took a walk to the back to confirm. My deduction was correct.
I saw you three to four times today. I looked every time you were not. I wondered if you looked when I was not. I liked the way you look.
The first time I saw you today was when we were both making a turn at the corner. You made a face when I said "excuse me."
I looked back to catch you turning your head to look my way.
From where I was standing, I saw that the light was turned off. I did not know when you had left.

1 / 9 / 12. Back on the grind.
I had a strong want for a lost excitement. Fuck it, I said to myself. I went back on the grind.
18 / 46. Ran to the gym + Worked out + ran back home
I was feeling lazy, and it was raining, thus I did not work out yesterday.
It rained earlier in the day. I was hoping that it would rain again in the evening, so I can skip another day. The rain had stopped, so I went to the gym.
I ran to the gym and back. I ran for a total distance of 2.28 miles at a 10'16" per mile pace. The total time of the run was 23:23.
I tried out two new exercises at the gym today, overhead squat and battle rope. I really enjoyed the battle rope.

80. provided direction to a man who was looking for bowery street
On my run back home from the gym. I ran into a man asking for direction. He was looking for Bowery Street. We were on Canal Street at the time. I was running in the direction toward Bowery Street. However, at the second, I could not think of where Bowery Street was. I looked up Bowery Street on my phone for the lost stranger. I told the man to walk along Canal Street for another five blocks.
