15 DAY 333
15 DAY 332
★ Returned to New York.
I woke up. I ate breakfast. My Dad drove me to the bus station. The bus left South Station later than the scheduled time. We hit traffic on the road.
We arrived at New York City Chinatown in the late afternoon. My brother texted. I called my Grandma. She did not pick up. I walked from the bus stop to my apartment. My Dad called. I walked up the stairs. My Mom called. I called my Grandma again. She did not pick up again. I bought laundry detergent from a nearby pharmacy. I brought my laundry to the laundromat. My Grandma called. I loaded my laundry. I walked back to my apartment. I cleaned my room. My Grandma called again. I told her to call again once she was done with her errands. I walked back to the laundromat. I waited for a drier. My Grandma called for a third time. I asked the lady at the laundromat to load my washed clothes into a drier once a drier becomes available.
I left the laundromat to meet up with my Grandma. I met up with my Grandma. We went up stairs to my apartment. She asked me to pick up her visa in a couple days. She handed me some leftovers from a feast from a funeral she had attended earlier in the day. I accepted the leftover. I looked for my passport, while she balanced her daily spending. We chatted. We left my apartment. We chatted some more.
I walked her to her friend's apartment. I liked her friend's apartment. My brother was here in this apartment thirteen years. I told my Grandma's friend that it had been thirteen years. He could not believe that it had been thirteen years. I left.
I went back to the laundromat. My clothes was not ready. I bought dinner. I went back to my apartment. I ate dinner. I bagged my lunch for the next day. I walked back to the laundromat. I picked up my laundry. I walked back to my apartment. I folded my laundry. I took a shower. I cleaned the mouse poo off of the corners of my room. I washed my hands. I drank a bottle of protein shake. I brushed my teeth. I went inside my room. I locked the door. I took off my clothes. I crawled onto my bed. I turned on my computer. Here I am now.

15 DAY 329
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM BOSTON!
★ HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM BOSTON!
Originally, I had planned to drive to Tufts University on Thanksgiving Day morning to do a photoshoot for the blog. Ultimately, I postponed the photoshoot to the following day after waking up late on Thursday morning.
We had a light breakfast or brunch. Immediately following our brunch, my Dad started preparing for dinner. He was done cooking by 3:30pm. No one was hungry by then. We started eating at around 4:30. Our Thanksgiving dinner was heavily seafood based with lobsters, king crab legs, duck soup and etc. After dinner, my brother and I took a walk to Stoneham Square before walking back home.
15 DAY 328
1 / 9 / 12. IF IT'S NOT A FUCK YES, IT'S A NO.
Analyzing your every action. Making sense of your hot and cold. Confused, then frustrated.
Then, I thought of this article that I read a year ago: markmanson.net/fuck-yes.
If it's not a fuck yes, it's a no.
I bid my farewell and holiday wishes as I swiftly made my through the assembled crowd. In the midst of returning goodbyes and happy holidays, I tried to make out your faint "you too."

★ returned home for the holiday!
I left work at around 5:00 p.m. Most of my co-workers had already stopped working by then and were drinking in the office. I did not join. I had work to do. Plus, I was not sure if I was invited. What if I joined, and was not welcomed? I also did not chip in for the alcohol. All in all, I felt awkward. I wish I had received a personal invitation from one of the co-workers.
I took the 6:00 p.m. Boston bound Greyhound bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal. The bus left surprisingly on time. There was heavy traffic throughout New York City. The bus arrived at South Station in Boston at around 11:00 p.m. My Dad picked me up from the station, while my Mom stayed home cooking. We had dinner together when I got home. I ended up going to bed at around 2:00 a.m.

15 DAY 327
80. gave the barber a 50% tip. (6/1,000,000)
I received a new haircut this evening, a much needed haircut. I had read somewhere that hair should be cut at maximum every four to six weeks. After four to six weeks without a proper trim, hair loses support and becomes hard to manage. It had been five weeks since my last cut.
Comparatively, haircuts are not expensive from one of the barber shops in Chinatown. I typically tip well regardless for I had worked at service jobs. However, since the price was already on the cheaper end, I tipped a few extra dollars on top of the regular amount.

15 DAY 326
18 / 46. RAN TO THE GYM + WORKED OUT + RAN BACK HOME
Nothing particular to report.
I ran to and from the gym. I ran for a total distance of 2.14 miles with a time of 20:54, an average pace of 9'44". I went about my usual routine at the gym.

15 DAY 325
★ 1 / 9 / 12 / 57.44. hung out at the inn
We hung out at the inn last night. It was the fifth consecutive weekend that we had hung out. Last weekend, I had suggested that we visit a different spot than our usual spot. They had suggested the inn. I thought that it was perfect for the inn is iconic, and I had never been to the inn. The crowd was disappointing. On top of that, my mind was not where my body was. I had a hard time enjoying myself. |
18 / 46. Went on a run along the east River Promenade
I went on a run along the East River Promenade later yesterday evening. Nothing particular to report. I ran for 4.86 miles. I ran for 40:02 at an average pace of 8'14". |
15 DAY 324
★ 9 / 12. Attended my new company's first beer o'clock
So close. I took a good look. Man. What a smile. What a face. Too bad. Too bad. Our office hosted an in-office happy hour after work today. We had beer and wine. It was an overall relaxing experience. I was too afraid and awkward to look too closely. But man, may I take a second to appreciate? I had left my phone at my cubicle to charge. I was too lazy to walk to my cubicle to grab my phone, and too shy to take any photo in front of co-workers that I barely know. The crescent shaped eyes. The flawless set of pearly whites. The dreamy smile. I was one of the last three people to leave. ★ 9 / 12. Attended my new company's first beer o'clock

I did not want to go home. One of my co-workers invited me to join him and his friends for a second happy hour. A third co-worker had also joined. We went to a pub nearby. I did not catch name of the pub. There were arcades, video games, among other entertainments set up in the bar. We each had one drink and made our leave. I went home after the second happy hour. My co-worker headed to Koreatown to meet up with his friends. 80. CARRIED A WOMAN'S LUGGAGE UP THE SUBWAY STAIRS (5/1,000,000)
I was drunk? I was definitely stumbling. I saw a woman struggling with her luggage up the subway stairs, so I offered to help. Man, was her luggage heavy? Her luggage was heavy, and I was drunk. I stumbled my way up the subway stairs carrying her heavy ass luggage. |
15 DAY 323
15 DAY 322
1 / 9 / 12. Look responsibly.
Look responsibly, for I got a fragile heart. First, I was expecting to see you. Then, I saw you walking by. And you coughed. Second, your door was closed. Third, I was listening in on your conversation. I was careless of the content of the exchange, but more curious of your tone and voice, and how you carry yourself in in a dialogue. Fourth, I turned around from loading the dish washer to catch you leaving the pantry. You said "hi" lightly, underneath your breath. I could barely hear your greeting as your thin voice cracked into no sound. If I did not know, I would had thought you were nervous. I did not know better. This was the first time you greeted me. Fifth. The fifth incident happened right after the fourth incident. We crossed path. You tried getting away without saying anything by making a face. I took initiative to ask how you were. Sixth and last, I waited for you to make your return trip. I expected you to look in my direction when you walk by me again. I heard approaching footsteps. I looked up from my work to catch your gaze. 1 / 9 / 12. And That was the Relieving siren
Yes. You heard it right. Embarrassment, like a raging fire, burned me alive. I had done it again, and was then suffering the consequences. On another note, it was better to know sooner than later. 18 / 46. RAN TO THE GYM + WORKED OUT + RAN BACK HOME
Nothing particular to report. I ran for a total distance of 2.23 miles. I ran for 20:38 with an average pace of 9'14". I went about my usual routine at the gym. |
15 DAY 321
★ BOUGHT A NEW SWEATSHIRT FROM H&M today.
I bought a new sweatshirt from H&M today. It was on sale for only $9.99. I am too lazy to get out of bed right now to take a picture of the sweatshirt. I am hoping to blog the new purchase over Thanksgiving break once I jumpstart the style segment of the blog.
18 / 46. Went out for a run, because the internet was not working
The title said it all. Well, to be more specific, Weebly was not working. I felt that I was wasting time waiting for Weebly to load, so I decided to go on a run, and hoping that Weebly would be fixed by the time I get back. Weebly is okay now.
I ran to Union Square. I ran for 31:48, a distance of 3.62 miles, at an average pace of 8'49".

15 DAY 320
18 / 46. Ran to the gym + Worked out + Ran back home
Canal Street was a lot more bearable to run though at night.
I ran to and from the gym, a total distance of 2.07 miles. I ran for 17:14 at an average pace of 8'17".
I did my usual routine at the gym.

15 DAY 319
18 / 46. WENT ON A RUN ALONG EAST RIVER PROMENADE
I went on a run along the East River Promenade tonight, after changing my mind about going to the gym. My knee was acting up again. I ran 4.68 miles with a time of 42:51, an average pace of 9'09".
15 DAY 318
★ 1 / 9 / 12 / 57.44. REVIVAL
Every unfamiliar touch revives a long dormant cell. Goosebumps blossom over the surface of the dead skin, tinkling from head to toe. Rainbow colored mist inundated the revival ritual in mystical cloud, as the face and limbs of an earthed corpse slowly uncovered itself.
The night ended in an abrupt note, before the completion of the ceremony.
To be continued next time.

18 / 46. RAN TO THE GYM + WORKED OUT + RAN BACK HOME
It was not much of a run. Canal Street was simply too congested with tourists to run through. A mere 2.17 miles to and from the gym took me 26:08 with an average pace of 12'04".
I did my usual routine at the gym.

15 DAY 317
1 / 9 / 12. "You Miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne gretzky
Is that what it is? Is that what I am doing?
The train pulled up to the station. I walked into a rather empty cart, and there, at the closing of the cart door, the end of another episode.

★ 1 / 9 / 12 / 57.44 / 80. VOLUNTEERED AT TREVOR NEXT GEN'S FALL FETE FUNDRAISING EVENT (4/1,000,000)
The complimentary Domino's Pizza's pizza was the best part of the event.
I was assigned to check in guests. Along with two other volunteers, we were stationed by the entrance to the club, away from the festivity. They had blocked the view of the party from the checking in area with a curtain and a fan divider. The job was okay at first. I was actually getting a childish sense of accomplishment that I was getting really good at checking in guests. I had originally planned to stay longer, hoping to at least catch a glance of the celebration before heading out. However, after a small hiccup that left me feeling scolded and unappreciated, I left at my earliest opportunity.
Looking back, I had always felt out of place among the in the organization. A great relief dawned on me as I walked away from the establishment.

15 DAY 316
1 / 9 / 12. Missed the transfer from the F to the E
I missed my transfer this morning. While waiting for the subsequent train to arrive, I paced back and forth on the subway platform, keenly searching for something that I was not going to find.
1 / 9 / 12. IS THIS THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE MORNING THAT YOU HAD SAID HI?
This small gesture, amidst a million other little things in life, like a winking spark, yet with enough magic to set your world aflame.
★ 9 / 12 / 18 / 46 / 57.44. Attended my first pick up soccer meet up at pier 25 in battery park city, Manhattan
There were only three of us. There was me, the organizer, and an Indian guy. I believe many of the supposed attendees canceled in the last minute due to bad weather from earlier in the day. We kicked the soccer ball back and forth for a half hour before calling it a night. The organizer was impressed with my kicks. He said that for someone who had never played soccer before, I had good control of the ball.
The soccer field was located on the tip of Pier 25 with a grand view of Jersey City. I had been to Pier 25 once before with a group of co-workers. I remember walking by the same soccer field.

15 DAY 315
1 / 9 / 12. WE GOT A GUEST ON WEDNESDAY.
I am trying to remember if my interview was on a Wednesday.
I just checked my email history. My interview was on a Wednesday.
When I started on a Monday, I thought that I had mistaken. When the first Wednesday came along, I started to make sense of the situation. Three weeks into my job, I had finally, completely figured it out.

★ 1 / 9 / 12 / 57.44. ATTENDED ANOTHER SOCIAL AT THE CENTER
I was exhausted. My gut was telling me to go home, but I had already promised a friend that I would attend the event with him. In addition, the feeling of missing out was so overwhelming, I simply could not not go.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened at the social.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened at the social.
15 DAY 314
9 / 12. the start of something new ?
Is this the start of something new?
First, I was smiling to myself, because I found the text funny. Then, I was happy, as more texts blew up my phone.

★ 18 / 46. RAN TO THE NEW GYM + WORKED OUT + RAN BACK HOME
I had migrated. My recent transfer application to Planet Fitness to switch my home gym from the Planet Fitness in Union Square to the Planet Fitness in Tribeca had been approved.
I typically run to the gym. However, I was getting tired of the four mile run that I had packaged with each weight lifting session. In addition, with limited free time on weekdays, I figured that I should focus more time on building muscle now that I had successfully shed twenty pounds.
On another note, I wanted a change in my daily routine, to run through a different neighborhood, to mingle in a different crowd, and to be a part of a different possibility.
The Planet Fitness in Tribeca is located approximately a mile from my current residence. It is far more spacious than the Planet Fitness in Union Square, and thus, house more equipments. On the other hand, most of the machines at the Planet Fitness in Tribeca are worn. Furthermore, the machines are scattered across the gym in an illogical order.

15 DAY 313
1 / 9 / 12. From the F to the E
I transferred from the F to the E at the West 4th St station. There is simply no room for my fantasized encounter when the transition from the first train to the second train is this perfect.
1 / 9 / 12. not about to go there again.
What does it mean?
You did not have to say hi, but you did. What does that mean? We were walking toward each other, but you quickly turned away to avoid eye contact. What does that mean? You came by my cubicle for the fifth time in the past ten minutes? What does that mean? Is it because I sit next to the pantry? And you had to get food? Why are you so hot and cold? Are you nervous? I guess my insecurity and awkwardness did not help.
No. I had been there, and I am not about go there again.

★ 57.44 / 66. went out for dinner with my parents at zui xiang lou in chinatown, manhattan
My parents came to visit for a second consecutive Monday. We went to a nearby Chinese restaurant for dinner. My parents ordered a table full of food that I enjoy, mostly seafood. I was overwhelmingly stuffed from dinner.
15 DAY 312
1 / 9 / 12. In case, sorry.
Is this it?
I never quite understood the purpose of this kind of encounter. Would my life or your life be any different if we never crossed path? Did I make an impact in your life? Did you left a mark in mine? I like to think each of these unfruitful meetings as sowing a seed, and someday, a long way down the road, at the right season and the right time, each of these seeds would sprout into something significant, for I strongly believe that every person that we run into in our lives has a purpose in them, while some people's purposes are more obvious and grand than others, nevertheless, everyone has one, for that is the way life is designed.

18 / 46. Ran to gym + Worked out + Took the train home
I have nothing out of the ordinary to report today. I ran to the gym. I ran 1.75 miles with a time of 15:10. I did my usual routine at the gym. I did not run home today though. One, I was feeling lazy. Two, I went to a nearby CVS to pick up some breakfast food and vitamin supplements.
★ Bought two boxes of "lean" cereal and two bottles of fish oil from cvs, in union square, manhattan
I had always been envious of men with thick hair.
I started losing hair in fifth grade. Back then, it was due to poor hygiene. Hair loss continued throughout high school and college. Then, it was mostly due to stress. Malnutrition speeded up the progress the summer of my junior year at Vanderbilt, when I was having a meal a day. Hair loss had slowed down in the past year, before kicked into high gear again during the last few months, during which I had shed twenty pounds.
I am not sure the exact cause for my hair loss. As a result, I am not sure how to go about tackling the problem. If the hair loss is due to stress, malnutrition, or hormone imbalance, then the the hair loss is most likely reversible. On the other hand, if my Dad's gene is playing a role in this unfortunate situation, then the hair loss is most likely permanent.
In case my hair loss is due to malnutrition, specifically lack of protein in my diet, I bought two boxes of high protein content cereal from CVS. I am hoping to get into the habit of eating healthy breakfast. I had also read online that fish oil promotes hair health, so I bought two bottles of fish oil as well.

15 DAY 311
18 / 46. WENT ON A RUN ALONG THE EAST RIVER PROMENADE
There is not much to report today. I went on a run along East River Promenade. I ran for 40:08 (4.86 miles) at an average pace of 8'15" per mile.
15 DAY 310
★ 9 / 12 / 57.44 / 66. hung out with two of my new friends in the city
This was the third consecutive weekend that we had hung out. We went to a bar in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan that I had been to a few times before. The previous times, I had visited the bar alone. Previous visits consisted of a drink, at most two, and one to two trips to the bathroom. To come back to the bar with two friends showed how far I had come. My situation is not ideal yet, but I am definitely progressing in the right direction. 18 / 46. Ran to the gym + worked out + ran back home
I was glad that I had time to squeeze in a workout before going out on Friday night. I ran to the gym, worked out, and ran back home. I ran for 31:12 (3.34 miles) at an average pace of 9'19" per mile. I went about my usual routine at the gym. 57.44 / 66. ate a blueberry muffin from the city bakery
One of the my co-workers came by to ask if I wanted a blueberry muffin that she had brought for another co-worker, but the other co-worker was not at work today. I simply do not have the will to turn down free food. You cannot tell from looking at the picture (that I had since deleted). This muffin is roughly five times as wide than tall. It tasted okay, nothing out of the ordinary. 80. Tipped when it is not necessary (1/1,000,000)
I was craving a bowl of hand pulled noodle. Giving my body what my body wants, I visited a hand pulled noodle place nearby my residence. Tip was not necessary at that hand pulled noodle restaurant, but I tipped anyway, and I usually do, as long that I had change and that I had not spend too much money recently. So, my old iPhone is completely broken, and I have no way of retrieving any of the saved data from the iPhone. With that, I lost my list of good deeds that I had completed thus far that I had been tracking on my phone, and the count that went with the list. I eventually decided to start over the count, for ultimately, doing good deeds is not about achieving a certain number, but that it is the righteous thing to do. |
