In addition to moving too fast, I was performing the deadlifts without paying too much attention to my form. Bad forms caught up. Many restaurants in Chinatown were closed today for Chinese New Year. I ate dinner at a restaurant that specializes in hand-pulled noodle, one of the few restaurants that was open today. The restaurant is located next to Chinatown Supermarket of Manhattan. The name of the restaurant slipped my mind. This was my first time eating in this restaurant. The food was above average.

I attended the Women's March in Midtown, Manhattan today. We arrived at the site at approximately 10:30. At roughly 12:15, I left the crowd to pee. I almost pissed my pants. It took me a half hour to 45 minutes to find a bathroom, wait in line and pee. When I returned from the restroom, the parade still had not moved. We began our march at around 1:30 at a snail's pace. It took us 4 and a half hours to march 17 blocks and 4 avenues. We arrived at the foot of the Trump Tower at 6:00.
At the conclusion of the march, we dined at a nearby, upscale Italian restaurant. I have dined at nice restaurants plenty times before. This restaurant was different. Its fanciness was at a new level. I was immensely intimidated by the atmosphere of the establishment.

The second round of birthday celebration consisted of a birthday dinner at Saigon Market, a Vietnamese restaurant in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, and some swaying back and forth, a.k.a. dancing, at a nightclub in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. Two of my friends surprised me with birthday presents. I received a birthday card, a deck of "lesson" cards, a large (1.45 oz) Hershey's Kisses chocolate, and a hand-decorated, chocolate-covered wafer pie. We had originally planned to attend a party on 11th Avenue and 48th Street after dinner. However, the party was unexpectedly cancelled at the last minute. There are so many clubs in New York City, why do we always end up at the same place? But thank God that each time there is something unique to offer.
Shadows shuffling in and out under the neon lights were simply mesmerizing. I joked to a friend that I could lounge on the sofas that we were sitting on for the rest of the night, smoking weed and drinking beers. I reluctantly gave up my comfort spot when the rest of the crew showed up. From the sofas, we migrated to the then empty dance floor. Initially, I sat on an adjacent couch to the dance floor, feeling awkward being the first and only people under the flickering spotlight, as if we were putting on a performance for the rest of the club attendees. However, within seconds from the moment I sat down, the dance floor was jam packed with crowd. Looked like we started the party.
And I was particularly popular that night.
Shadows shuffling in and out under the neon lights were simply mesmerizing. I joked to a friend that I could lounge on the sofas that we were sitting on for the rest of the night, smoking weed and drinking beers. I reluctantly gave up my comfort spot when the rest of the crew showed up. From the sofas, we migrated to the then empty dance floor. Initially, I sat on an adjacent couch to the dance floor, feeling awkward being the first and only people under the flickering spotlight, as if we were putting on a performance for the rest of the club attendees. However, within seconds from the moment I sat down, the dance floor was jam packed with crowd. Looked like we started the party.
And I was particularly popular that night.

We hung out at the inn last night. It was the fifth consecutive weekend that we had hung out. Last weekend, I had suggested that we visit a different spot than our usual spot. They had suggested the inn. I thought that it was perfect for the inn is iconic, and I had never been to the inn. The crowd was disappointing. On top of that, my mind was not where my body was. I had a hard time enjoying myself. |

I did not want to go home. One of my co-workers invited me to join him and his friends for a second happy hour. A third co-worker had also joined. We went to a pub nearby. I did not catch name of the pub. There were arcades, video games, among other entertainments set up in the bar. We each had one drink and made our leave. I went home after the second happy hour. My co-worker headed to Koreatown to meet up with his friends.

Every unfamiliar touch revives a long dormant cell. Goosebumps blossom over the surface of the dead skin, tinkling from head to toe. Rainbow colored mist inundated the revival ritual in mystical cloud, as the face and limbs of an earthed corpse slowly uncovered itself.
The night ended in an abrupt note, before the completion of the ceremony.

The complimentary Domino's Pizza's pizza was the best part of the event.
I was assigned to check in guests. Along with two other volunteers, we were stationed by the entrance to the club, away from the festivity. They had blocked the view of the party from the checking in area with a curtain and a fan divider. The job was okay at first. I was actually getting a childish sense of accomplishment that I was getting really good at checking in guests. I had originally planned to stay longer, hoping to at least catch a glance of the celebration before heading out. However, after a small hiccup that left me feeling scolded and unappreciated, I left at my earliest opportunity.
Looking back, I had always felt out of place among the in the organization. A great relief dawned on me as I walked away from the establishment.

There were only three of us. There was me, the organizer, and an Indian guy. I believe many of the supposed attendees canceled in the last minute due to bad weather from earlier in the day. We kicked the soccer ball back and forth for a half hour before calling it a night. The organizer was impressed with my kicks. He said that for someone who had never played soccer before, I had good control of the ball.
The soccer field was located on the tip of Pier 25 with a grand view of Jersey City. I had been to Pier 25 once before with a group of co-workers. I remember walking by the same soccer field.

I was exhausted. My gut was telling me to go home, but I had already promised a friend that I would attend the event with him. In addition, the feeling of missing out was so overwhelming, I simply could not not go.

My parents came to visit for a second consecutive Monday. We went to a nearby Chinese restaurant for dinner. My parents ordered a table full of food that I enjoy, mostly seafood. I was overwhelmingly stuffed from dinner.

One of the my co-workers came by to ask if I wanted a blueberry muffin that she had brought for another co-worker, but the other co-worker was not at work today.
I simply do not have the will to turn down free food.

I Google Map-ped the address that was provided on the event page. Google directed me to a compact, unlit field outside of Brookfield Place. The description on the site noted that the soccer field was located near some volleyball courts, and coincidentally, there was a volleyball court closeby to the small field. I confidently thought that I had found the right place. I went inside Brookfield Place to read, while waited for the game to start. The field remained unoccupied when the clock struck seven. I checked my phone for messages, when a lightbulb went off that I was actually at the wrong location. I swiftly left the empty field, walking north, along Hudson River, toward Pier 25. Midway, I received another message from another member of the soccer group, who had arrived at Pier 25. No one had showed up at Pier 25 neither. I figured that the soccer game was canceled. I permanently detoured from my path, found the nearest bus stop, and made my way back to Chinatown. On the bus, I received a third message from a third member of the soccer group that he was making his way to the soccer field. I felt bad when I got home that I had possibly missed the soccer game. I wrote an message on the site apologizing for my absence. |

The Italian man's voice was trembling. I was on the edge of tearing up every time his shaky voice cracked a sound.
I liked the British girl. Despite of her circumstance, she spoke her story with such light. I admired her ease.
Then, there was the black man. The unexpectedness of the encounter conjured up an impulsive courage in him that otherwise would not exist. He sat down in the middle of the room. When his surrounding finally sank in, a suffocating unease took over. I could tell just by looking at his back that he felt uncomfortable. Eventually, he made his leave.
I fell asleep during the middle of the film. The movie was near its end by the time I woke up.

I distinctly remember Halloween from a year ago, a pivotal night of my young adulthood. I remember the Halloween parade, the walk to some German bar in Midtown, the unease that bothered me all night, the rain, the first time I opened up, poured my heart out, to someone about my situation, and the tears, lots of tears.
To send myself back in time mentally, then to bring myself back to the present; to put myself in a similar environment, and to observe all the differences between now and then, only then do I see my growth. Man, I had came a long way.
That being said, I met up with my new friends in Union Square. Subsequently, we made our way to Hell's Kitchen, where we decided to check out a new bar that we had never visited before. At the door, I embarrassingly remembered that I had left my ID at home. I left, headed for the nearest subway station, making my way back to Chinatown. I told my friends that if it does not take me too long to return home, I would come back out. It took me a hour to return to Chinatown. It was already 1:00 a.m. by then. I decided to stay in.

The restaurant is located on Essex Street. I ran by the above sign last night. I wanted to take a picture of the sign more than I wanted to eat at the restaurant. However, I felt a need to purchase a food item from the restaurant in exchange for an unspoken permission to take a picture of their sign, and so I did. I ordered ten steamed dumplings. In short, the handmade shell of the dumplings were noteworthy, though the pork filling was less remarkable. |

Sunday night, I attended my grandma's old co-worker's son's wedding at J & B Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown, Manhattan. I had been looking forward to the wedding since a week prior, when my grandma told me that she wanted me to attend a wedding in her place the coming Sunday, for every Chinese wedding is a grand photography opportunity for the style of photography I was pursuing anyway. Sadly, however, I did not capture any useful photographs. Nevertheless, the food was delicious, though similar to the dishes from every other Chinese wedding I had been to. |

I missed the first opportunity to pop the question. The words were right there, at the tip of my tongue, but my tightly closed lips, once again manipulated by my ego, debarred them from setting loose. I remained alert, watchful for the next appropriate moment. At the second chance I was given, the words awkwardly rolled off of my tongue, squeezed pass my lips, and projected out in the open. There I was, climbing down from my high horse, and chucking my pride out of the window.

I took the train to Penn Plaza after breakfast. While waiting for my co-worker and her friends to show up, I read The Lord of the Rings at a small park outside of One Penn Plaza. The weather was beautiful, though a little chilly. A few pages into my reading, I stopped. I walked around the neighborhood, looking for Two Penn Plaza. I have an interview at Two Penn Plaza in the coming week.
My co-worker showed up about a half hour later. We went to an outdoor food court nearby, where she purchased breakfast. My mind zoomed out while waiting for my co-worker to get her food. I daydreamed about receiving a job offer from my upcoming interview, and having lunch at the food court, once I started on my new job.
Subsequently, we walked to a movie theater, where we saw The Scorch Trial. The film was a utter mess. It fell below my expectation.
My co-worker's sister brought homemade brownies to the theater. My co-worker told me that they were low-calorie brownies. Regardless, the brownies were delicious.
After the movie, we found a restaurant on 9th Ave for late lunch. Burgers and Cupcakes was the name of the restaurant. I ordered the special of the day. It was delicious, like how burgers and fries should be.
We went shoe shopping afterward. I was desperately in need of a new pair of sneakers.
